This guide will show you how to request a STAC code for your mobile phone SIM card.
A STAC (service termination authorisation code) is a short string of letters and numbers that tells your current mobile provider to terminate your mobile number and the associated contract.
Follow these steps to request a STAC code for your mobile number and contract.
1. Ensure you can text from the number you wish to port
Put the SIM card with the associated number in a mobile phone.
2. Text 'STAC' to 75075
To request a STAC from your existing provider, text the word STAC to 75075. The provider will then send an automated reply with your STAC as well as details about early termination of your contract. Be aware that there may be charges associated with the cancellation of your contract.
3. Give the STAC to your new provider
Let your new provider know your STAC code. If you're moving your mobiles to Bytes Digital, give our mobiles team a call and they'll assist you with the process.
4. Wait for the number to migrate
Your mobile contract should terminate within one working day of completion of step 3. This may take longer, depending on providers.
If you're worried about losing service, you should contact your new provider. If you're changing to Bytes Digital, you should give our team a call and they'll be happy to help.
